Actinopterygian node D: Intertemporal bone meets nasal bone, supra-angular element in mandible.
The Stegotrachelids represent a more derived clade of basal actinopterygians, and were classified as such on the basis of their skull bones' organisation (see formal definition of actinopterygian node D, above). They include forms such as Moythomasia from the Late Devonian of North America.
