Modern Forms of Placentalia

Within the group Placentalia, there are 116 families and 4178 species. These families are divided into four Orders, the Afrotheria, the Xenarthra, the Euarchontoglires and the Laurasiatheria. Comprising Proboscidea, Hyracoidea, Sirenia, Tubulidentata, Macroscelidea, Afrosoricida

 

Xenarthra

Comprising Anteater, Sloth, Armadillo

 

Euarchontoglires

Comprising Rodentia, Lagomorpha, Primates, Scandentia, Dermoptera

 

Laurasiatheria

Comprising Eulipotyphla, Chiroptera, Cetartiodactyla, Perissodactyla, Pholidota, Carnivora
