Major Subgroups

The Synapsida are divided into two orders - the Order Pelycosauria, and the Order Therapsida. Within these, the Family Sphenacodontidae gave rise to the therapsids, and the therapsid Suborder Cynodontia gave rise to the Class Mammalia.
