Anapsida
The Anapsida are amniotes (egg producers) - members of the class Reptilia, along with the other subclasses Synapsida
and Diapsida.
They are primarily characterised by the lack of temporal fenestrae (hole(s)
behind the eye socket) in the skull. They originated by the lower
Permian 270 million years ago, and have persisted to the present day
through their one remaining representative group, the order Chelonia -
the turtles.
