- The order Ambylpygi (meaning
'blunt rump') can be found in tropical to sub-tropical regions
worldwide.
- They range from 5 to 40mm
in size and display broad, flattened bodies with modified front
walking legs acting as sensory organs and prominant pincer-like
pedipalps.
- Amblypygids have no silk glands
and lack poisonous fangs.
- Fossilised amblypygids have
been found dating back to the Carboniferous period
