| Name: The Hunsrück Slate Location: Western Germany Age: Devonian |
|
The Hunsrück Slate of Germany represents a unique and exceptional Konservat Lagerstatte. The Lower Devonian site at Hunsrück is the only fully marine Devonian Konservat Lagerstatte that preserves soft tissues. Importantly, these soft tissues are pyritised. The Hunsrück Slate is important not only for the remarkable preservation of fine detail but also for the faunal diversity.
