This notosuchid crocodilian was found in the Romualdo Member of the Santana Formation. The holotype is in the Divisao de Geologia e Mineralogia, Departamento Nacional de Producao Mineral, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Other specimens have been found in West Africa, correlating well with the former proximity of Brazil and Africa before continental rifting.
