Introduction.

Carnivores
Invertebrate carnivores - predominantly from Australia and New Guinea, including small Dasyuridae species and myrmecobiid. South American examples include short-tailed and fat-tailed opossum.

Vertebrate carnivores - again predominantly Australian (just 3 species from S.America). All are larger than 100g and active hunters, but some will scavenge when possible. Better known examples include quolls and the Tasmanian devil.
