The research undertaken by members of the group spans worms through hagfishes to primates, focussing all the while on patterns of character evolution in the assembly of bodyplans, the molecular developmental processes that underpin these episodes, their timing and tempo.

To this end, the skills base of lab is diverse, encompassing computed tomography, molecular phylogenetics, experimental taphonomy, mineral chemistry and developmental genetics.

We’re always on the look out for anyone who may wish to join the lab, to share skills, techniques and experience. If you are interested in exploring funding opportunities to join us as a graduate student, a postdoc or your looking for somewhere interesting to spend and a sabbatical, please get in touch with Phil.
